It is said that swimming is one of the best exercises for overall fitness – it improves circulation, enhances
flexibility, increases lung capacity and builds strength, and it does all this without putting any additional stress
or strain on the joints and ligaments. This minimizes the possibility of any injuries and helps swimmers stay fitter
for longer durations. In addition, swimming is a very good life-skill to have – not only to become confident
about entering any unknown waters, be it surfing at the beach or kayaking on a lake, but to also be able to help others
and save lives if required.
Loyola High School was one of the first schools to have a in-house swimming pool for its students. This pool is
available for students to use throughout the week and in the evenings after school. Loyola is probably the only
school to include mandatory swimming periods in the regular school time-table.
